Dimitris Markopoulos currently serves as Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, with responsibility for tax policy, a position he has held since June 2026. He has also been a Member of the Hellenic Parliament for New Democracy since 2019. Prior to entering politics, he had a long career in journalism, with extensive experience in economic, business and political reporting. He worked for a number of leading Greek media outlets, including Proto Thema, Makedonia and Parapolitika, holding senior editorial and management positions across print, broadcast and digital media. In 2010, he received the Botsis Foundation Award for Economic Journalism. He graduated from the School of Humanities at the Hellenic Open University and holds a diploma in Mass Media and Journalism. As a Member of Parliament, he has served on major parliamentary committees and international delegations, with a particular focus on the economy, development and Greece’s institutional representation.
